Fire Station No. 12 in Temecula will open for free public tours Saturday, Oct. 10.
The open house runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 28330 Mercedes St. Firefighters will answer questions and share tips on safely charging electronic devices, according to Patch, which first reported the event.
The Riverside County Fire Department is hosting the tours under the theme "Plug in, power up, stay safe." The department said the event will focus on reducing fire hazards tied to device charging.
The open house falls on the final day of Fire Prevention Week 2026, which runs Oct. 4–10. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) chose safe lithium-ion battery charging as this year's national focus, noting that damaged or improperly charged batteries can overheat, catch fire or explode.
Temecula's station is one of 15 Riverside County Fire Department locations participating across the county. The department described the events as family-friendly.
Residents with questions can email the department's public affairs bureau at [email protected].
