Hundreds of handmade quilts will hang from Old Town Temecula storefronts on Saturday, Oct. 3. The Valley of the Mist Quilters Guild stages its 27th annual outdoor show on Front and Main Streets from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Admission is free. The event is co-sponsored by the City of Temecula, according to the city's events calendar.
A live quilt auction begins at 1 p.m. in the courtyard between the Old Town Temecula Community Theater and The Merc at 42051 Main St. Nearly half of the auction proceeds go to local charities, according to the guild's website. The show also includes a Quilter's Boutique and a grand-prize raffle drawing for a quilt, with tickets available from guild members.
Cash, check, credit cards and PayPal are accepted at the event.
Nearly three decades in Old Town
The guild, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit formed in 1990, has partnered with the city for nearly three decades to put on the show, Hoodline reported.
The Oct. 3 show caps a monthlong celebration of fiber arts in the Temecula area. An exhibition of art quilts has been on display at the Grace Mellman Library, 41000 County Center Drive, as part of that celebration, according to the Press Enterprise. Sources differ on whether the library display runs through Sept. 30 or Oct. 2; visitors should check with the library before heading over.
The guild meets at 6:45 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month at the Temecula Civic Center Conference Room, 41000 Main St. More information is available at valleyofthemistquilters.com.
