Temecula residents can drop off new socks for people in need at a free donation drive Thursday, Oct. 15, at Reliance Church.
The Socktober Sock Stop #3 event runs from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the church, 29825 Santiago Road. Organizers are asking for packages of new socks in sizes for children, adults and seniors.
Temecula radio station 102.5 The Vine FM and the Classical Conversations Christian Homeschool Group are co-hosting the drive, according to The Vine FM's event listing. Donations will be collected at a purple booth on site.
The socks go to two nonprofits.
His Little Feet, a Temecula-based nonprofit founded by Executive Director Hali Wolf, distributes shoes and socks to children ages 1 to 18 experiencing poverty in Riverside, Orange and Los Angeles counties. The organization has provided more than 26,000 pairs of shoes to children since 2014, according to its website. Its Riverside County distribution partners include the Temecula Valley School District, Michelle's Place, Mission Hope, Oak Grove and the Rose Again Foundation, all based in the Temecula area.
Path of Life Ministries, based in Riverside, provides emergency shelter and services to people experiencing homelessness.
AR Workshop in Temecula is sponsoring this year's Socktober series. The Oct. 15 stop is the third in the series, following a second event held Oct. 8 in Murrieta. No additional stops have been announced.
The drive takes place at Reliance Church, where Pastor Kyle Fox leads the congregation.
