Pechanga plans free mariachi, $56 dinner for Mexican Independence Day

Pechanga Resort Casino will mark Mexican Independence Day with free live mariachi music, a three-course dinner and drink specials running Wednesday, Sept. 16 through Sunday, Sept. 20.

Mariachi musicians will perform on the casino floor from noon to 4 p.m. on Sept. 16, then move inside 1882 Cantina near the hotel lobby from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., according to the resort. The Temecula resort is owned and operated by the Pechanga Band of Indians.

1882 Cantina will serve a special three-course Mexican Independence Day menu for $56 per person from Sept. 16 through Sept. 20. The meal includes chicken flautas, lobster tacos with Mexican rice and frijoles refritos, and Mexican chocolate cake. The special menu runs alongside the restaurant's regular lunch and dinner offerings.

Kelsey's and 1882 Cantina will both pour $10 flavored margaritas Sept. 16 through Sept. 20.

Sunday brunch

Journey's End, inside the Journey at Pechanga golf course clubhouse, will host a Mexican-style Sunday brunch buffet on Sept. 20 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Adults pay $68, children ages 6 to 12 pay $34 and children ages 4 to 5 pay $18.

The resort's 4th Annual Tacos & Tequila Festival falls on Saturday, Sept. 19, at the Pechanga RV Resort. VIP entry at 11 a.m. costs $160; general admission at 1 p.m. costs $120. Attendees must be at least 21.

Pechanga also lists a "Play to Earn" heated taco serving set giveaway on the casino floor Sept. 16 or Sept. 17, from noon to 10 p.m.
