Black Star won the City of Temecula's Rocktober battle of the bands, taking home a full-day professional recording session as the first-place prize.
The city-sponsored competition took the stage on a Saturday in late October, according to Patch. Jaxon Thunder placed second and will receive a brand-new sound amplifier. Tie Breakers finished third, earning a "Rock On!" prize basket.
The Temecula Community Services Department celebrated the results on its Facebook page, writing that Black Star "brought the house down."
A city community services spokesperson praised the competitors, according to Patch. "We want to give a big shoutout to every band who competed and everyone who came out to support Temecula's next generation of musicians," the spokesperson said. "Thanks for making this year's Rocktober one to remember."
Black Star posted on Instagram after the win. "Thank you, guys, for having us!" the band wrote. The group is also looking for locals who want to book them for Halloween gigs in the Temecula or Murrieta area, according to Patch.
The annual Rocktober competition is organized by the city to showcase local musical talent.
