A Riverside County judge set a Feb. 11, 2027, trial date for George Vega, a 58-year-old Vail Elementary teacher charged with three counts of lewd acts on a child under 14.
Superior Court Judge John Molloy scheduled the trial during a status hearing Sept. 23 at the Southwest Justice Center, Patch first reported. Both the prosecution and defense agreed to prepare for February proceedings, prompting the judge to set the date.
Vega is free on a $110,000 bond.
The Riverside County Sheriff's Department arrested Vega in May 2025 after investigating reports of alleged "inappropriate contact" between the teacher and a student at the campus in the 29000 block of Mira Loma Drive, according to sheriff's Sgt. Jim Peters. Deputies began the investigation on May 7, 2025, after receiving those reports and arrested Vega without incident at his residence on Pine Tree Circle days later.
The Temecula Valley Unified School District (TVUSD) placed Vega on indefinite unpaid administrative leave after his arrest. As of Sept. 23, the district had not confirmed whether he had been formally terminated. TVUSD officials also declined to specify how long Vega had worked at the school or provide details about the alleged offenses.
Sheriff's investigators have not elaborated on the allegations. No response from Vega or his defense attorney appears in public records as of publication.
Vega has no documented prior felony convictions in Riverside County.
Vail Elementary is a kindergarten-through-fifth-grade school with about 563 students enrolled. It is one of 30 campuses in the TVUSD system, which serves roughly 26,298 students.
No pretrial hearing dates or additional court proceedings have been announced beyond the Feb. 11, 2027, trial date.
