Temecula's Arts and Cultural Affairs Subcommittee will take up a mural proposal for the city's skate park on Tuesday, Nov. 3.

Mayor Pro Tem Matt Rahn and Council Member Zak Schwank will convene the two-member panel at 8:30 a.m. in the Great Oak Conference Room at 41000 Main Street, according to the meeting agenda posted Wednesday, Oct. 28. The mural is the only item listed under committee business.

Details are thin. The agenda lists the item as "Consider Proposal for Mural at Temecula Skate Park" but does not name the artist, describe the design or include a cost estimate. The full agenda packet, including staff reports, will be available for public viewing at the Temecula Civic Center and on TemeculaCA.gov at least 72 hours before the meeting.

Residents who want to weigh in can fill out a Request to Speak form at the meeting. Speakers on agenda items get up to five minutes each.

The skate park sits inside Ronald Reagan Sports Park. The city has been renovating the facility into what it calls a "fully redesigned, state-of-the-art street skate plaza" with street-style and transitional elements, improved lighting and durable materials. Construction was anticipated during fiscal year 2025–26.

A grand opening and ribbon cutting is listed for 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, according to an event page on TheTrickBook.com. That page credits the City of Temecula, Temecula Parks & Recreation and Neighborhood Drop In as co-publishers of the announcement.

The mural discussion comes as the city continues its broader Temecula Mural Project, which seeks to support emerging artists by providing a space to showcase their craft. That program, facilitated by Temecula Community Services, is based at Sam Hicks Monument Park and is open to artists, art groups and school groups within a 50-mile radius of Temecula. Its November 2026 theme is Native American Heritage Month.

Whether the skate park proposal is connected to that existing program is not stated in the agenda.
