Temecula Prep's girls golf team earned the No. 1 seed in league after beating San Jacinto Valley Academy 270-282 on Thursday, Oct. 1.
Ahlana Ramirez and Amaya Vosberg each shot 47 to share medalist honors. The two All-League players out-played last season's league MVP in the process, according to a post-match recap on the Temecula Prep athletics site. The source did not name the prior MVP.
Coach Knight wrote in a Band App message to the team that the match was a close battle through most of the round before the Patriots pulled away over the final three holes to seal the 12-stroke win. He encouraged the players to keep supporting one another and to take each round one shot at a time heading into the postseason.
The rest of the scorecard told a team-wide story. Eve Martinez shot 52. Makena Owens and Serina Rizvi each carded 62, with Rizvi's score marking her lowest round of the season. Denise Deguzman finished at 70.
Every score counted.
The Oct. 1 result capped a season of steady improvement for the program. Temecula Prep opened the year with a 288-330 win over Nuview Bridge on Aug. 26, a match in which Vosberg led the team with a 50 and Ramirez shot 53. By the league-clinching round, both had trimmed their scores to 47.
Vosberg, a junior, is also a dual-sport athlete competing in flag football for Temecula Prep this fall. Martinez recorded the team's first birdie of the 2026 season in that August opener against Nuview Bridge.
Knight and fellow coach Sharkey have guided a roster that ranges from low-scoring All-League talent to players still building their games. Six golfers posted scores in the Oct. 1 match, and Knight credited the full roster's effort for the team victory.
Ramirez, in the team's recap post, put it simply: "Broken gloves break par."
The Patriots enter Wednesday, Oct. 14 League Finals as the top seed, looking to close the season with a title.
