Temecula Valley Unified School District (TVUSD) is asking families and residents to review two AP Physics textbooks before the Board of Trustees decides which one to adopt.
The district posted a public notice Friday, Sept. 25, opening a 30-day comment window that runs through Monday, Oct. 26. Both books are published by Pearson:
- "Physics for Scientists and Engineers: A Strategic Approach with Modern Physics," AP Edition, 5th Edition, by Randall D. Knight
- "College Physics: Explore and Apply," AP Edition, 3rd Edition, by Etkina, Planinsic, Rutberg and Van Heuvelen
Physical copies of both textbooks are available at the TVUSD District Office during regular business hours. Digital versions can be accessed through Pearson's online platform during the review period. Community members can submit feedback through the district's AP Physics Instructional Materials Public Review Form.
The district has not scheduled a board vote on the adoption.
The textbook review comes as the roughly 28,000-student district refreshes curricula across grade levels. TVUSD is also piloting new math materials at the elementary and secondary levels during the 2026-27 school year, according to a separate district notice.
